EY UK: application stages, tests and practice

EY says you apply online without a CV, complete online assessments that may include multiple choice, table and graph questions, pattern questions and a recorded video response, and then, if shortlisted, attend an EY Experience Day. EY does not name an assessment vendor on its UK student pages.

Routes: Graduate, Industrial Placement, apprenticeship and summer internship routes, as described on EY's student pages. Insight and spring programmes were listed as opening later and their process is not described. Last verified 2026-10-22.

  2. Online assessments

    Official employer

EY says the assessments may include questions about your abilities, behaviours and working preferences. Formats listed: choose from several options, interpret a table, chart or graph, move or drag items on screen, identify a pattern or apply a set of rules, and record a video response. The how-to-apply page describes a Realistic Job Preview, a first online stage covering teamwork and learning capability, and a behavioural skills test. The assessment has a time limit that is given in your invitation and instructions. A preparation hub with practice assessments sits inside the assessment portal. EY does not state item numbers or total time.

Final stage line-up

Official employer

EY does not publish an agenda. It says the EY Experience Day is the final stage, where you meet people already at EY, showcase your skills, ask questions and connect with others. It is held in person at UK offices for graduate, industrial placement and apprentice programmes, with a virtual alternative only in exceptional cases, and is virtual for all summer internship programmes.

Retakes and validity

EY requires candidates to agree to re-sit any assessment at any point if EY asks. No re-sit is allowed if you ask for adjustments after completing an assessment. If rejected you wait six months to reapply for graduate or undergraduate roles, or three months for apprentice or Career Starters roles, using a new email address. You can submit at most two applications per year.

What we could not verify

  • The current assessment vendor is unconfirmed (EY UK pages name none; Cappfinity rests on a 2012 trade press report that could not be read and on prep sites, and SHL appears on EY's US site).
  • Number of items and total time for the online assessments
  • Experience Day line-up: group exercise, case study, presentation and interview counts or lengths
  • Separate process for insight or spring programmes
  • Result validity period
  • EY does not say its assessments include a situational judgement test; it describes a Realistic Job Preview and questions about abilities, behaviours and working preferences.
