Online application
Official employerApply through Shell's Workday careers site. The Finance listing asks for a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the UK, graduating in 2027 or within the last three years, and a 2:1 or above (or on track for one); there are no specific A-level or GCSE grade requirements. You must live in the UK. Candidates can express interest in several business streams, and Shell encourages those most interested in Finance to choose it as their first preference. The listing prefers econometrics-related disciplines such as finance, accounting, economics, business management and mathematics. For the Assessed Internship, Shell says you can optionally link your LinkedIn profile and use a degree matcher to pick your preferred area.
Virtual Job Try-out and on-demand video interview
Official employerShell describes the Virtual Job Try-out as simulations of the job where you tackle challenges, show your problem-solving, share your story and show your work approach. You then record answers in an on-demand interview. Both must be finished within 7 days of the invitation and take about 40 minutes together. Shell's Assessed Internship page says the on-demand interview has three questions; the graduate page does not give a number. No platform or vendor is named on the pages read.

This is followed by an online interview with the same two Shell employees; the Assessed Internship page says assessors ask questions and scenarios after the case study. Final stage line-up

Retakes and validity
Shell's UK Assessed Internship page says that for 10 months after an Assessed Internship application, further applications are decided by the first outcome: a successful candidate who reapplies to a different position goes straight through stage one, and an unsuccessful one is automatically turned down. The graduate programme page read does not state a reapplication rule. Shell says it may amend or withdraw listings before the advertised closing date.
What we could not verify

- Older candidate reports describe a face-to-face assessment day with a group exercise, presentation and in-tray exercise; Shell's current pages describe an online case study and interview only
- The number of on-demand interview questions for the graduate programme is not stated on the graduate page (the Assessed Internship page says three)
- Lengths of the case study session and final interview are not published on the pages read
