Companies with finance roles
Unilever UK & Ireland: application stages, tests and practice
Unilever says its Finance UFLP process runs from an online application to a two-part profile assessment (a personality test and an online assessment), a recorded digital interview of three short questions and a business case, and a face-to-face Discovery Centre with business challenges and an interview. Unilever says it does not use AI to screen applications or digital interviews. No test vendor is named on the pages read.
Stages in order
What do the confidence badges mean?
- Vendor-published Stated in the test publisher's own document or practice site.
- Academic From peer-reviewed research.
- Official employer Stated on the employer's own page.
- Near-official Near-official: an employer-run practice portal, or a vendor or employer-quoted press release naming the employer.
- Candidate-reported Reported by candidates. Treat as likely but unconfirmed.
- Third-party From prep sites, press or forums. Not confirmed by the employer or publisher.
Online application
Official employerA short online form, with the option to fill in your details from your LinkedIn profile. You may apply to one function, and only your first application is considered, so choose Finance deliberately. Unilever says a member of the recruitment team reviews every application and AI is not used. Adjustments, such as extra time in timed assessments or interviews, can be requested from the Talent Acquisition team.
Profile assessment
Official employerTwo stages: a portrait personality test and an online assessment, which Unilever says look at different elements of your cognitive, emotional and social traits. You receive personalised feedback after each stage. The content of the online assessment, durations and the vendor are not published for the UFLP on the pages read.
Practise: Personality questionnaire practice
Digital interview
Official employerA recorded interview you complete anytime and anywhere: three short questions followed by a business case, where you solve real-world problems using Unilever scenarios. Unilever says your submission is reviewed by a real person, not screened by AI. Time limits per answer are not published on the pages read.
Practise: Video interview practice, Case study exercise practice
Discovery Centre
Official employerA face-to-face 'day in the life' of a Future Leader, with project meetings, business challenges, a team meeting with Unilever colleagues and an interview. Unilever's brochure says interview questions are mostly competency based ('tell me about a time when...') and suggests STAR. Detailed feedback is given after Discovery Centres. The date was listed as to be confirmed and exercise durations are not published.
Practise: Assessment centre practice, Case study exercise practice, Daily interview question
Final stage line-up
Finance UFLP: one face-to-face Discovery Centre with project meetings, business challenges, a team meeting with Unilever colleagues and an interview. Finance Industrial Placement: a half-day virtual discovery centre with immersive business challenges and interviews, then a half-day in-person discovery centre at a Unilever office with interviews with business leaders and function-related business challenges. Exercise durations are not published.
Retakes and validity
You may apply to one function per cycle and only your first application is considered. If you are unsuccessful you can apply again in the next cycle. Applications open once a year and close on a rolling basis once enough applications are received, so Unilever advises applying early. Detailed feedback is only given after Discovery Centres. No test re-sit or result validity rule is stated on the pages read.
What we could not verify
- The vendor and content of the UFLP online assessment and personality test are not published on the pages read
- Time limits for the digital interview questions and business case are not published on the pages read
- A candidate report on Glassdoor describes a 'common sense quiz' online assessment and a discovery centre with a business case; that wording was not found on Unilever's pages
- A prep site lists online assessments as a separate stage after the application; Unilever's own pages call this the profile assessment
- The Finance UFLP page gives an opening date that reads 21 September 2027 for a September 2027 start, which looks like a typing error; the exact opening date was not confirmed
