Bank of America: application stages, tests and practice
For most EMEA programmes Bank of America says the online application has two parts: a CV upload with competency questions, and a video interview, both due by the deadline. If selected, you go to an assessment centre with a mix of phone calls and video interviews with HR, business managers and possibly peers, and you may be asked to complete exercises and assessments that measure key aptitudes and values. The EMEA tab names no assessment or video vendor.
Stages in order
What do the confidence badges mean?
- Vendor-published Stated in the test publisher's own document or practice site.
- Academic From peer-reviewed research.
- Official employer Stated on the employer's own page.
- Near-official Near-official: an employer-run practice portal, or a vendor or employer-quoted press release naming the employer.
- Candidate-reported Reported by candidates. Treat as likely but unconfirmed.
- Third-party From prep sites, press or forums. Not confirmed by the employer or publisher.
Online application (CV and competency questions)
Official employerApply in Bank of America's application portal. The EMEA application is a CV upload and competency questions, followed by a video interview, and both parts must be finished by the application deadline. You get a confirmation email once it is submitted. Recruiting is rolling and assessments often begin before the deadline, so Bank of America advises applying early. Analyst roles ask for a 2:1 or equivalent (obtained or expected); pre-internship roles ask for ABB at A-level or equivalent, and you can tell Bank of America about extenuating circumstances in the application.

Video interview (part of the application)
Official employerThe EMEA tab says the application includes a video interview but gives no format. On the US and Canada tab of the same page, Bank of America describes its on-demand video interview: about 20 to 30 minutes in total, 30 seconds to prepare and up to three minutes to answer each question, no follow-up questions, notes allowed, and questions that are mainly behavioural and open-ended. Bank of America does not say on the EMEA tab whether the same settings apply in EMEA. The EMEA tab names no video platform; the Asia Pacific tab of the same page mentions the HireVue platform, but Bank of America does not say EMEA uses it.

Assessment centre
Official employerIf you are selected to interview, a Talent Acquisition professional contacts you. Bank of America says candidate experiences vary, but you can expect a mix of phone calls and video interviews with HR team members, business managers and possibly peers. You may also be asked to complete exercises and assessments that measure key aptitudes and values. The exercise types, number of interviews and lengths are not published on the pages read.

Final stage line-up
A mix of phone calls and video interviews with HR team members, business managers and possibly peers, plus possible exercises and assessments that measure key aptitudes and values. Exercise types, interview count and lengths are not published on the pages read.
Retakes and validity
No retake rule is stated for any assessment. Bank of America says you may apply to one office and one division per year, and that if you are declined for the summer programme you can reapply for the full-time programme the following year.
What we could not verify
- Whether the EMEA video interview uses the 30 second preparation and up to three minute answer settings described on the US and Canada tab
- The video interview platform or any assessment vendor for EMEA (the Asia Pacific tab of the application process page mentions HireVue; the EMEA tab names none)
- Whether any online numerical, verbal or game-based test is used in EMEA (none is mentioned on the pages read)
- The exercise types at the EMEA assessment centre, and whether a group exercise, case study or presentation is included
- The steps of the Spring Insight 'fast-track assessment process' that can lead to an internship
- Prep-site claims that EMEA applicants get only one application per season across all EMEA programmes (Bank of America's page says one office and one division per year)
