J.P. Morgan: application stages, tests and practice
J.P. Morgan says some roles include an on-demand recorded video interview or other standardised assessment, followed by several interviews across multiple rounds. The firm does not publish the exact line-up, and its current pages name no game-based assessment and no video interview vendor.
Stages in order

On-demand recorded video interview
Official employerThe firm says some roles require a recorded interview where the technology presents questions and you record your answers on a device with a camera and microphone, within a designated timeframe. It says these interviews can assess language proficiency, verbal presentation and technical ability.

Other standardised assessments for some roles
Official employerThe firm lists structured live interviews, on-demand interviews and virtual skills assessments as examples. Technical (for example coding) assessments may be online tests or live technical interviews. You are told if your role needs an assessment.

Final stage line-up
Not published. The firm says only that you can expect to meet several people in multiple rounds and that the process differs for each position. Whether there is a group exercise or case study is not stated.
Retakes and validity
The firm says many assessments cannot be retaken for a designated timeframe and that you will be told the retake period if one applies. If you are not selected for a student programme you can apply again in a future programme year if you meet the eligibility rules. It recommends focusing on no more than three summer internship applications.
What we could not verify
- UK-specific process page for Spring or Early Insight, summer analyst or graduate routes (J.P. Morgan UK student pages returned 404)
- A game-based assessment stage is unconfirmed for current UK programmes. A March 2019 firm news story (now removed) described a pymetrics pilot, and press in 2019 and 2020 reported 12 Pymetrics games taking 25 to 35 minutes with one play allowed in a 330 day period, but the firm's current pages do not describe a game stage.
- The 330 day lock on replaying the games is unconfirmed (press reported only, 2020).
- HireVue as the video vendor (not named on the firm's pages; reported by prep sites and press)
- Video interview prep time, answer length, number of questions and re-record rule (candidate figures conflict; the firm states none; the earlier note of one re-record and 6 months validity could not be re-checked)
- Superday or assessment centre line-up, interview count and length (prep sites report about 2 to 4 interviews of 30 to 45 minutes; not from the firm)
