Morgan Stanley: application stages, tests and practice

Morgan Stanley's own pages set out three steps (explore, apply, interview) and describe the interview types you may face. They do not describe online tests, a video interview or a final round, so those are not listed as stages here.

Routes: EMEA early careers: insight and spring programmes, internships and graduate analyst programmes. The pages reached do not set out stages per programme. Last verified 2026-10-22.

Stages in order

What do the confidence badges mean?
  • Vendor-published Stated in the test publisher's own document or practice site.
  • Academic From peer-reviewed research.
  • Official employer Stated on the employer's own page.
  • Near-official Near-official: an employer-run practice portal, or a vendor or employer-quoted press release naming the employer.
  • Candidate-reported Reported by candidates. Treat as likely but unconfirmed.
  • Third-party From prep sites, press or forums. Not confirmed by the employer or publisher.
  1. Online application

    Official employer

Morgan Stanley's students and graduates page sets out three steps: explore, apply and interview. You find a programme and apply through the careers site. Its EMEA FAQ says it prefers strong A-Level (or equivalent) results and a degree from a good university, and that it recruits from all disciplines.

  2. Interviews

    Official employer

Morgan Stanley says interviews could be competency, strengths based, skills based or technical. It says it is interested in how you work through a scenario and does not always expect a right answer.

What we could not verify

  • An online application form, cover letter and CV as the application content is unconfirmed (reported by eFinancialCareers in 2021, not on the firm's pages).
  • An online aptitude and situational judgement test stage is unconfirmed: eFinancialCareers (2021) reported tests sourced from Aon covering numerical, verbal, deductive and logical reasoning and situational judgement, plus a gamified switchChallenge task, but Morgan Stanley declined to comment and its pages do not describe the tests.
  • Aon as the test vendor is unconfirmed (no Morgan Stanley page or Aon candidate portal naming Morgan Stanley was found).
  • A final round (assessment centre or superday) after CV screening and interviews is unconfirmed (reported by eFinancialCareers; the firm does not publish the line-up).
  • Whether a recorded video interview is used is unconfirmed (prep sites and candidates mention HireVue; nothing on the firm's pages).
  • The superday or assessment centre line-up, group exercise or presentation is unconfirmed (prep sites report 2 to 5 interviews; not from the firm).
  • Stage order and tests for the Spring or insight programme specifically are unconfirmed (a dated third-party guide lists numerical test, phone interview, assessment centre).
  • A six month wait to retake failed tests, with Aon keeping scores for that period, is unconfirmed (eFinancialCareers reporting, not a firm statement).
  • Morgan Stanley's former 'Recruitment Process - EMEA' page (removed; newest archive copy February 2025, older than 12 months) described a CV and cover letter, division-dependent numerical, verbal and logical reasoning and accuracy tests, a first-round interview by phone, video or in person, and a final stage with one-to-one interviews, written tests, an individual presentation and a group exercise. None of this is on its current pages.
